Demand for toys this year is at a record high at The Salvation Army. In 2009, over 8,600 kids 14 and under received gifts.
This year that number is over 11,000, a 30% increase.
Angels can be picked up at Towne East and Towne West. Gifts need to be turned in by Monday, December 13 at Towne East or Towne West, December 14 at The Salvation Army downtown, 350 N. Market or The Salvation Army’s Christmas Distribution Center at 1806 W. 2nd St., 2nd and Vine.
The Salvation Army is also accepting cash donations, which is used to fill the Angel Tree requests.
The Salvation Army also needs an “army” of volunteers (700 to 1,000) for distribution day, December 16, and on the days leading up to the 16th, and clean up on the 17th, to help serve over 4,000 families, distributing gifts and turkeys for Christmas.
