Financial troubles are bringing down the curtain on a modern dance company from Lawrence that has toured the state for nearly 25 years.
The 940 Dance Company, formerly known as the Prairie Wind Dancers, will give its last concert this Thursday and Saturday in Lawrence.
The Lawrence Arts Center says it is no longer financially feasible to keep the dance company.
The Lawrence Journal-World reports that since its founding in 1987, the 940 Dance Company performed in more than 100 Kansas communities, many of them in rural areas, eight states and Mexico.
The dance company will end its season with a collaborative program with University of Kansas dance students May 7 as a fundraiser for the Wakarusa Valley Heritage Museum near Clinton Lake.
