The old Bread of Life building at 2825 S. Hillside has been given new life, by housing Wichita's second Lord's Diner.
"I think that it's great that they're opening up another location," said Luis Ulloa, Planeview resident. "I know a lot of people that use their service and the location is going to be nothing but help."
Bishop Michael Jackels of the Wichita Diocese and the executive director of the Lord's Diner, Wendy Glick, announced today the expansion into South Wichita.
"The Lord's Diner on south Hillside will serve just as we do as north Broadway," said Glick. "We will serve to anyone who comes to our door and we will do so with hospitality, with respect, and with dignity."
Bread of Life moved to a new facility in May.
Glick did not have an official date to begin serving meals but said it would be sometime in the spring next year.
The Lord's Diner, a ministry of the Catholic Diocese of Wichita, has been providing daily evening time meals since February 2002. Operational costs for The Lord's Diner are off-set from corporate and private contributions and in-kind donations of foods and services.
