As the inaugural year nears an end, SMG today announced a community event to celebrate the one year anniversary of INTRUST Bank Arena. On January 16, the arena will open its doors to the community for a fun-filled afternoon of ice skating, local music and more.
This free event will offer public ice skating on the arena’s ice rink and complimentary skates rental. Select concessions will be featured for $1.00 in order to keep the event affordable and fun for everyone. The Wichita Thunder mascot, Thunder Dog, will also be on hand to greet fans and complimentary face painting will be available for guests.
INTRUST Bank Arena has also partnered with ROK ICT to host several different genres of local bands to entertain the crowd throughout the afternoon. Bands on the bill so far to play at the event include: Behind The Solution (Pop Punk), Powerlifter (Chiptune/Electronic), Lisa Hittle and Jazz Friends (Jazz), Elliot Road, Scott Allan Knost (Acoustic Singer/Songwriter), Cash Hollistah, and Manish Law (Hip Hop).
“We are excited to host an event where we can thank the community for helping make our inaugural year so successful,” said A.J. Boleski, SMG General Manager of INTRUST Bank Arena. “The goal of the event is to have something for everyone to enjoy. We look forward to reflecting on all of the events throughout the past year, and to continuing our success into the second year.”
SMG and INTRUST Bank Arena are also asking the community to help the Kansas Food Bank by bringing non-perishable food items to donate at the event. Donation bins will be located at all main entrances.
Admission is free for the one year anniversary celebration. The event will run from 2:00 pm – 6:00 pm on Sunday, January 16. The Q-Line will be running throughout the duration of the event and buses will be in operation to assist in transportation to and from the arena.
