After hundreds of ballots were counted, this year’s winner was FIRE. This gives fire nine wins, to law enforcement’s seven wins.
But the REAL winners are hospital patients throughout Kansas and Northern Oklahoma.
The whole blood goal for this year was 775 units and American Red Cross Blood Services collected 969 units during the two-week campaign. A total of 55 people became blood donors for the very first time during the Battle of the Badges. The platelet goal was 560 units, Red Cross collected 546 units -- 98% of goal. This was below goal, but the best collection month for platelets in many months.
