In Colwich, the dedication of a new veterans memorial, one that honors those who served from Union Township. The township that surrounding Colwich.
There are 295 names on the wall that sits in the Colwich city park.
Hundreds gathered this morning to dedicate the memorial. Veterans, young and old stood tall and proud as the small community remembered them and their service.
"I believe in honoring the vets especially for those who gave their lives for the freedom we all enjoy," said Claire Hempe, who served in the Air Force.
The $42,000 project was funded through selling engraved bricks and granite benches and through a donation by the city.
