A first-grade teacher at El Paso Elementary in Derby is trying to win $25,000 in a national contest sponsored by Pepsi to buy 75 iTouches for her classroom.
Sally Cavanaugh began the "Apple a Day" project hoping to stimulate and inspire children to learn by using hands-on technology from their generation.
Cavanaugh says the iPod Touch will create activities for all academic subjects including: phonics, reading, math, writing, science and social studies.
"This project is not something that will last one week, two weeks or three months. It will continue everyday, year after year as each new class of first graders graduates from Kindergarten!" Cavanaugh said.
Voting for Cavanaugh's project ends on April 30th. Click here to learn more and vote for this idea.
