The 35th Annual, Original Blarney Breakfast, a benefit for Rainbows United, Inc. ushered in St. Patrick’s Day celebrations Wednesday morning at Old Chicago East in Wichita. The event was the most successful in the 35 year history.
More than 1,015 people attended, resulting in more than $17,000 in proceeds to benefit children birth – 21 with special needs served through Rainbows’ Targeted Case Management Program. Event organizers are still getting matched dollars with a higher total in sight.
“It was by far, the best year ever,” said Margaret Shook, event Founder.
One of the highlights of the morning was the gift of a heavy duty stroller for Esmeralda Alvarado. Participants at the breakfast contributed funding for the needed equipment which will help the active 5-year old, participate in activities like her typical peers. Esmeralda and her family were on hand to accept the gift.
