According to Tim Penquite, his wife Chelsea has never been fond of him purchasing lottery tickets. However, Penquite’s latest win may change her mind. The 32-year-old Wichita resident purchased a $20 Casino Royale instant scratch ticket, winning a $100,000 top prize!

“I’ve never won more than $500,” said Penquite. “We were excited with that win. After I purchased my tickets last night, I went home and scratched them while watching TV. When I realized I’d won $100,000, I sat there for at least 15 to 20 minutes just looking at the ticket.”

Penquite, who was watching TV in the garage, let out a scream when the win finally sank in.

“After hearing him scream, I thought he must have cut himself on a tool or something,” said Chelsea. “Then he came in the kitchen with the ticket. To make sure we were reading the ticket correctly, we called a few family and friends and asked them to come over and take a look.”

Once everyone agreed it was indeed a $100,000 winner, Penquite had the winning ticket checked at the store where it was purchased.

“When we got home from the store, we took pictures of the ticket,” said Penquite. “We were nervous and probably didn’t sleep more than a half hour last night.”

The Penquites, who have been married three years, have two daughters. They plan to use their winnings towards a home addition.

The winning ticket was purchased at Flying Eagle 1, located at 277 S. Ridge Rd. in Wichita.
