A Topeka museum is throwing a party later this month to celebrate the 149th birthday of Kansas as a state.
The Mulvane Art Museum at Washburn University has scheduled the family event for the afternoon of Jan. 30. Participants will be able to create-tissue paper sunflower pins and decorate personal copies of the 1887 architectural rendering of the Capitol building.
They also may visit the museum's ArtLab to view architectural sketches from the man who created the murals in the first-floor rotunda of the Capitol.
Admission is free.
