A church in south-central Kansas has agreed to shelter the homeless when temperatures reach the freezing point.
The First Church of the Nazarene in El Dorado already had been feeding the homeless on Monday nights since March.
The church is seeking volunteers to fix meals, donate items or work shifts at the temporary church shelter.
Meanwhile, donations are being sought to start a homeless shelter that would be open year-round.
The 2008 homeless count showed 112 persons in Butler County are homeless on any given night and estimates reach as high as 350 for uncounted persons.
