911 dispatchers say they are being kept busy by a number of calls Tuesday evening reporting an odor.
Callers from as far east as Greenwich Road, as far west as Hydraulic and as far south as 55th Street have contacted the gas company and emergency services concerned about what has mostly been described as a "natural gas" odor.
Wichita firefighters are helping in the search for the smell as are gas company officials who have reportedly not found any leaks traced to the offending odor.
The Sedgwick County Department of Health was called in as the latest agency to assist in tracking down the source of the smell.
After an exhaustive search with no problem detected agencies summed up the smell as an odor without a hazard.
