Wichita’s Washington Elementary School students were treated to a visit from Miss America, Katie Stam, and Miss Kansas, Becki Ronen.

As part of their visit, the students were each given a coloring book designed and made by Miss Kansas to teach children lessons about life, such as why it is important to stay in school.

Miss America says another important lesson on the day as keeping arts in the school curriculum. She is speaking tonight at the Wichita State University Metroplex at 7 p.m. on the importance of community service.
