The 18th Annual Frostbite Regatta will launch on the banks of the Little Arkansas River in Riverside Park today.

The course will be a 1.7 mile distance head race which can be followed in its entirety along the sidewalk. Spectators are welcome to walk along the route or to bring a bicycle and follow the course through the park.

The official course record of 7:34, Men's Varsity Eight was set in 2002 by Marietta College.

The Wichita Rowing Association, Wichita State University Crew and the City of Wichita host the event.

Proceeds from the regatta are used towards purchasing additional equipment to expand the high school and adult rowing programs and Learn to Row classes on the Arkansas River in downtown Wichita.
