Last year, Operation Holiday served 14,000 people in the Wichita area. This year, the demand is expected to be higher with local layoffs.

Operation Holiday has responded by setting even higher goals for its annual drive. The organization hopes to collect $300,000 to purchase food and vouchers, 5,000 blankets, 3,000 warm coats and enough food donations to feed 5,000 families.

To reach this year's goal, organizers are asking for community-wide involvement.

"It is a privilege to be in the position to give recognizing it in that way compels us to take action to help others in need," said Interfaith Ministries Executive Director, Sue Castile.

Donations can be made at all Bank of America locations in the Wichita area.
