The Kansas Department of Commerce will honor 12 businesses and three individuals next month for their efforts in creating job opportunities.

The Oct. 15 awards luncheon is sponsored by the agency's Minority and Women Business Development, coinciding with the Kansas Minority Enterprise Development Week.

The development division provides assistance in business management, identifying resources for financing and establishing contacts in the public and private sectors. The division also is responsible for certifying minority and women owned businesses as small disadvantaged businesses for procurement and subcontracting.
