A somber gathering of about 200 people held a candlelight vigil in memory of Deputy Brian S. Etheridge Monday night in front of the Warren Old Town in downtown Wichita.
Many of Deputy Etheridge's close friends in law enforcement spoke about what a good friend and fellow officer he had been to them.
Some spoke of personal experiences relating their friend's bravery and kindness and said prayers for his family.
Cindy Rexroat and several wives of fellow sheriff's deputies organized the candlelight vigil Monday night to honor one of their own who was so tragically shot and killed this afternoon.
