Kansas State University is signing up high schools girls to shadow professors for a day.
The university plans to hold the event on Oct. 13. School officials said they hope seeing what professors do would encourage more high school girls to consider studying math, science, technology and engineering.
The students will team with university student mentors, attend class, tour the Manhattan campus and participate in a workshop on choosing a career path.
The event is sponsored by the university's Women in Engineering and Science Program. It's open to high school girls across the state.
Registration information is available online or by calling the Women in Engineering and Science Program office at (785) 532-3395.
