The Board of Directors of Inter-Faith Ministries is pleased to announce that Susan N. Castile has been named as the new Executive Director of Inter-Faith, effective September 1, 2009.
Sue brings to Inter-Faith Ministries a rich background in faith, community service, leadership, and organization. She has served for the last ten years as the Executive Director of Diversity Kansas (formerly the National Conference of Christians and Jews.)
She says, “I am pleased to be joining an organization of such significant service to the Wichita area, and I am looking forward to continuing Inter-Faith’s mission, and contributing to its future.”
Sue will follow the Reverend Sam Muyskens, longtime Executive Director of Inter-Faith Ministries, who announced his retirement as Executive Director in June, and has been continuing to lead Inter-Faith until a new Executive Director was named. Reverend Muyskens will continue to serve the organization on a part-time basis in an emeritus capacity to assist the new Executive Director.
Rev. Muyskens commented, “I am very pleased with the Board’s decision and with the gifts Sue will bring to Inter-Faith Ministries. Sue will receive all my support and assistance as she continues the mission of Inter-Faith Ministries. I am also pleased to be continuing to work part-time with Inter-Faith Ministries in these areas: spreading the Inter-Faith message through inter-religious dialogue and preaching and teaching, enrolling congregations of all faith as members, and serving as a consultant to the Inter-Faith Development Corporation by maintaining relationships with existing major donors and working on large donor development.”
Sue was introduced to the Board of Directors by Dr. Michael Gardner, chair of the Search Committee, at a special meeting held on July 16. At that meeting, the Board unanimously voted to name her as Executive Director.
The Rev. Dr. Cathy Northrup, President of the Board, offered the following statement, “Sue Castile is a woman with deep faith, commitment to serving marginalized people, and experience in building bridges between persons of diverse backgrounds. She also has great leadership, management, planning, and organizational skills. The Board feels that we have made an excellent choice and that Sue will lead Inter-Faith Ministries into an exciting future.”
