As people through out KAKEland cope with the financial crisis, the demand for help grows higher and some companies are stepping up to help out.
Monday, Union Pacific Railroad presented a check for $10,000 to the Kansas Food Bank. The amount should be enough to fill a boxcar.
UP spokesperson Kurt Zalar says, "We just wanted to step forward and begin the donations and get the community behind it and continue to contribute to this worthy cause."
Last year, UP provided Kansas communities and programs with more than $250,000 in support.
