The Kansas Sampler Foundation is pleased to announce the top 8 Wonders of Kansas Art.

  • Garden of Eden/Lucas, Grassroots Arts Mecca
  • Gordon Parks, Fort Scott

The top eight were selected by public vote. More than 9,000 votes came from people across Kansas and in 46 states and nine foreign countries.

Foundation director Marci Penner said, "As shown by the top 8 list, our state has incredible diversity in the Art department - from the historic Curry murals to some of the quirkiest art in the world. The art of Kansas is well worth exploring!" The contest was designed to educate the public and encourage travel.

The mission of the Inman-based Kansas Sampler Foundation is to preserve and sustain rural culture.

The Foundation's eight rural culture elements will each be featured in their own four-month contest. The overall 8 Wonders of Kansas as well as the 8 Wonders of Kansas Architecture have already been chosen. The contest featuring Commerce will begin on November 1 and will be followed by cuisine, customs, geography, history, and people.
