A ceremony was held in Memorial Park near downtown Saturday morning, honor our nation's heroes who fought in all wars and to give away three cars to local veterans in need.
Cars For Heroes and All Parts Auto Salvage in conjunction with The "Jan and Phil" show on 104.5 The Fox gave away cars on Saturday to three Wichita veterans and their families who were down on their luck.
Iraq war veteran Brian Harris and his wife Clarissa have been living in a trailer in the back yard of one of their parents' houses and could no longer afford a car payment. The couple received a reconditioned Mercedes.
Another couple, Roger Nethercot and his wife lost their business, their home and their car. He is diabetic, legally blind in one eye and can barely walk. His wife has been unable to work without a car and his failing health.
Finally, Marine Chris Kershaw was injured in Japan but needs a car for work. He and his wife, Cassie also received a car thanks to Jan Harrison and Phil Thompson at 104.5 The Fox, All Parts Auto Salvage and Cars For Heroes.
