Great weather helped make a great event even better Saturday as the Wichita Black Arts Festival got underway.
The celebration kicked off Saturday morning with a parade along 17th Street.
Organizer Terry Toney and Council Woman Lavonta Williams agree the Wichita Black Arts Festival is a great way to bring people together and to let people learn about African American culture.
After the parade people gathered at McAdams Park for a festival complete with lots of food and fun for everyone.
Festival goers made it a point to recognize the importance of this year's event and the positive message it sends to the entire community and its young people.
Following the festival a Take Back the Community meeting was also held to discuss important community issues such as gang involvement and getting young adults to get involved with more positive activities.
The Wichita Black Arts Festival will be hosting events until Sunday.
