* Flood Warning for...
Western Cowley County in south central Kansas...
Eastern Sumner County in south central Kansas...

* Until 930 AM CDT Thursday.

* At 223 AM CDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
heavy rain which will cause flooding. Two to 3 inches of rain have
already fallen across Southwest Cowley County while one and a half
to 2 inches have fallen across Eastern Sumner County.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Arkansas City, Winfield, Wellington, Mulvane, Belle Plaine, Oxford,
Udall, South Haven, Geuda Springs, Rock, Hunnewell, Perth,
Riverdale, Strother Field Airport and Wellington Airport.

Additional rainfall amounts from 1 to 2 inches are possible in the
warned area.

This includes Interstate 35 between Mile Markers 1 and 33.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as
well as other drainage areas and low lying spots.

* Until 830 AM CDT Thursday.

* At 1137 PM CDT, rain gauges across much of Sedgwick county
recorded 2 to 3 inches of rainfall which caused flash flooding,
with many roads likely still flooded. Additional storms are
expected overnight which will keep flooded roads a threat.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Wichita, Derby, Andover, Haysville, Park City, Valley Center, Bel
Aire, Mulvane, Goddard, Rose Hill, Maize, Clearwater, Cheney,
Sedgwick, Colwich, Garden Plain, Mount Hope, Downtown Wichita,
Kechi and Andale.

This includes the following highways...
Interstate 135 between Mile Markers 0 and 22.
Interstate 35 between Mile Markers 34 and 54.
