My husband, Rob, had the idea a year ago to renew our vows around our 20th anniversary.   It was orginally supposed to happen in Hawaii...but busy kids forced us to move it to Las Vegas.

Now I know, no matter where it took place, it would be such a blessing.  We renewed in a chapel in Las Vegas.  My two girls stood up for me.  A groomsman for our wedding happened to be in Las Vegas last weekend...so he stood up for my husband again.

How do I describe it...except as a "blessing?"   To be able to remind each other why we committed ourselves to each other in the first place, was just a "blessing!"     We wrote our own vows this time...which were , of course, better than the first time around.  We laughed, we cried...but most of all, we just felt grateful. 

It not only reminds you of why you married the person in the first place,  it also reaffirms  why you love each other now.   It really is almost lijke you are getting married again.  We will probably do it every five years now.   I would advise all to do the same.   Perhaps if we reminded each other why we fell in love in the first place,  we will be much less likely to leave when the going gets tough.
