I am trying to figure out why this upsets me . Its hard to pinpoint. It could be that I saw "Dirty Dancing" and "Ghost" a million times(well maybe not a million......but at least a half dozen). I guess I am not alone. From what I can gather , most women who were either a teenager or a young adult during the 80's , had a "special fondness" for those to movies. Maybe "Dirty Dancing" , at least was such a "coming of age" movie for women. It gave us permission to "appreciate" a very good looking guy in a rough, yet sensative role. Okay...so maybe it is also the passing of an era........ that whole 80's early 90's time when it was cool to be a "Young Republican" and appreciate firvilous movies at the theater. That may be what I am missing....not to mention missing one of the sexist men of his time. |

I loved Patrick Swayze in Dirty Dancing and Ghost. I was surprised when I saw that he and his wife had been together for so long but I was very happy for them. It is great to know there can be a long marriage in the show business. I have always liked him but I am glad he won't be suffering anymore or have the pain. He will be missed alot. And, yes, I agree he was a very good looking guy. |
