I just returned from a "mini vacation."  You know where it was??  I took a "mini vacation" driving from Wichita to Argonia, Kansas.  I went to Argonia Elementary to read to the school for the KAKEland Reading Caravan.

What I didn't expect to get was 45 minutes of incredibly serene scenery and 45 minutes of complete peace.  It really made me feel like "everything is going to be alright."  The wheat is a beautiful shade of green and is about a foot high..... just high enough to have the look of waves on a quiet lake when the breeze blows.

There were also perfectly manicured farms along the way.  Today, I am envying people who work with the soil.  I haven't had one minute to plant my spring garden.  When I arrived at the Argonia Elementary School, I was handed a book about our planet Earth and how we need to take care of it.  The kids new more about the environment than the adults in the crowd. They also reminded me that tomorrow (April 22nd) is Earth Day.  Well, part of "the Earth" called Kansas gave me a "mini-vacation" today... and for that I am grateful.

There is so many cool and unique things to see in Kansas. It often surprises me just how many neat things I find while storm chasing across Kakeland. Kansas is home to many diverse, historic, and geologic wonders that are waiting to be discovered.

It is a great drive. I drive it everyday along with many others. Spring and Fall are the best times to drive that way.
