When Should Teens Start Driving

The House is considering  a bill that has already been passed by the state's Senate that would alter the requirements to get a Kansas drivers license.  How old do you think is old enough to drive?  Should there be any restrictions like the 50 hours of experience proposed or no other teens in the car for awhile or no cell phone use while driving.  15 years ago, I got a Kansas learner's permit at 14 years old.  Boy, did I think I was old enough to drive.  But what do you think the odds are my girls will drive at 14?  I don't think so.

DO YOU WANT TO WAIT TILL THEY ARE 21 OR GO AHEAD WITH SOME RESTRICTIONS? BY THE WAY AS I AM 40 I DID LIVE THROUGH THE 80'S AND REMEMBER ALL THE TEENS DRAGGING DOUGLASS AND PACKING INTO CARS AND GOING OFF TO PARTIES WITH UNDERAGE DRINKING AND DRUGS AND PREMARITAL SEX AND NOW THEY ARE MOMS AND DADS NOW AND SEE WHAT IS GOING ON. AND MOST PARENTS WERE NOT EVEN VIRGINS ON THEIR WEDDING NIGHT.

I have a 14 year old dying to get his learners permit so he can drive. I'm all for the proposed driving laws moving the driving ages back and imposing restrictions. I've known several teens who wrecked a car or two before maturing enough to use good judgement.

I am 19 years old and got my drivers license just a few months before I turned 18. Not only because my father was scared of me driving but because I didn't think I was ready. I know most teens these days think they're ready to drive and can't wait.. not me! I would rather be driven around sometimes. The independence is nice, but also a little scary! I don't think age should be a factor in determining the driving law. Of course, it has to but maturity is my number one factor.
