A Red or Blue State?

So first let me start by saying that this post has nothing to do with any particular candidate running for president this election cycle.

Rather it's a simple (or not so simple!) question about the changing (or unchanging!) politics of Kansas.

A lot of attention has been given to Kansas recently about the fact that a normally conservative state has elected a democratic governor --twice.

One thought on this--while it's no secret Kansas swings republican--it seems maybe a vast majority of Kansans are more moderate republicans and both times Sebelius was running against very far right republican candidates. It doesn't seem like many people in this state have the appetite to swing too far to EITHER side right now.

So what do you think about the state of politics in Kansas these days?

And do you think Kansas would have any possibility of actually voting for a democrat as president anytime soon?

Kansas vote Democrat? Not in this life! Even registered, lifetime Democrats know better! Every time I vote, the voting center volunteers say, "Oh, the Democrat!" Such is the attitude in general across this conservative, Republican state. For my part, I vote for the candidate even though I am registered as a Democrat. I voted for Jerry Moran, Tom Moxley, and quite a few local Republican candidates. Simply put, the Democrats did not offer viable competition for the positions. As to the national contests, the Democrats have a good chance to take the White House and greater control of the Congress unless they nominate non-mainstream candidates who promote radical change. No matter what they claim publicly, Americans will continue to support an establishment candidate who has a moderate platform, regardless of party affiliation. As for Kansas being a blue state, like I stated earlier, not in this life. The "Land of Landon" will remain red. Get used to it.

Hopefully it is now a blue state. After having such an incompetent republican president it is time for a change. GO OBAMA!

Why should red or blue really matter. I have voted for candidates from both sides of the aisle. I find it much more important to vote on the qualities of the candidate, not the party affiliation.

Many people do not know the difference between a caucus and a primary and who can vote. Will you please clarify this for us?

Posted by: Jon Our governor acts like a moderate but she is a wolf in sheep's clothing. The Republicans just haven't been able to put up the perfect person to beat a moderate Democrat, many think that Sam Brownback will run for Gov when he is done with the U.S. Senate. It is all about the name with republicans.
