Oh, it was hard but, I did it.  I took my six year old to kindergarten.  He was very excited but, he was looking around with big eyes!

I was so excited for him but, my heart was heavy.  We walked through the hallways and went into his classroom to see his teacher and his new classmates.  He sat down at his desk next to a boy named Payten.  He did great..  I helped him unpack and then said goodbye.  I could feel my eyes fill up with tears as I started to leave the room.  I didn't want him to see me cry so, I quickly left the room.  I could see him in the reflection of the door (he couldn't see me), I watched him for about five to ten minutes.  He was looking through his new pencils and glue sticks.  Giggling with his new friend Payten.  I was happy he felt comfortable and was making friends.  I jumped in my car and left the school.

When I picked him up, he jumped in the jeep and said mom "I'm starving".  They had meatloaf for lunch.. ha ha.. We stopped and got a snack and talked about his day.

Have a great week everyone!!

I lived in Chicago and came to see my sister and my two nephews for vacation. School was still in session here, so I was able to watch my nephew go to the bus stop in the morning. Tears just flowed down my cheeks as I saw him tow his backpack and run down the road to the bus stop. I wanted to get into my car and drive him to the end of the road, but my sister explained that he did this every morning. My nephew was growing up, ready for school every morning. Boy, does time fly!

Hi Jemelle, love watching you with Mike and Ben in the morning's. You are my favorite news team of all the time periods! I'm struggling with something I wonder if you could provide some research and advice for and that is Empty Nest Syndrome! Both kids are gone for college, one is a senior at KU and for whatever reason it really hit me hard this year, maybe because I know she won't be coming back home but getting out on her own with a new job! The other one is very independent as well. I'm trying to enjoy my husband, my time, and take pleasure in how well they've grown into adulthood but it's being hard. I can't seem to get focused on anything and cry too much. Any helpful comments or feature would be appreciated!

I remember taking my son and daughter to kindergarten. My son is in 1st grade this year. It is so hard! But I think taking him to 1st grade was harder. He's my last baby and it hurts to see him growing up. Hang in there!

You are such a kind and loving person. You make the news for me. I luv all the KAKE10 crew - but, being a mother of 3 HS kids, I can relate to so easliy. You seem like an awesome mommy. Best of luck to you. I'm sure you hear lots of "I love you's" daily. you deserve it! Thanks for being who you are. U always start my morning off right.

I watch your morning show every day and feel like I know you and your family. It was so neat to see your son on his first day of school. I have 12 grandchildren and it still is heartwrenching to see them start that first day, even tho mom has a little me time. You, Mike and Ben do such a good job, and I love starting my day off with you all. Keep up the good work!!
