Working moms living healthy lives

Hello everyone, hope you're having a great week!!! I can't believe it's already March.  It seems like we just celebrated the holidays.

Ok, here's our blog topic.  How do working moms who have extremely busy schedules also live a healthy lifestyle.  Lets talk about some tips we can share.  I would love to hear from all of you!!! I will pass on a few things I try to do... Let me tell you it's something I struggle with too!!!!

1.  I try to drink water and eat a lot of blueberries.. Ha Ha.. I know that sounds funny but, I like blueberries much better than other healthy foods like broccoli and spinach.  I throw a bag of blueberries in the freezer and grab a bowl in the mornings.  I eat them frozen and they taste like candy.

2.  I try to avoid a lot of sugar which is sooooooooooooooooooooo hard for me because I love sweets.  My dear co-anchor Mike Iuen makes cookies every morning and drinks Dr. Pepper so, that makes it very difficult for me! Ha Ha

My problem is finding time to exercise on a daily basis. When I get home in the afternoons my kids and I play!  I love that part of the day so, if you have any ideas on exercising with kids let me know!! We take walks but, they often get bored after about 10 minutes.  We love being outside, but I don't feel I'm getting a real workout.

Take Care!!!

Jemelle

Are you walking with a stroller? Pushing that could be a workout in itself! I like the idea of exercising after the kids go to sleep at night. Nightly exercise sounds good, Jemelle. :)

Although I am not a parent, my best friend is. And, she's playing the role of housewife, mother, and provider, as her husband is deployed. She stays fit and healthy by working out in the evenings after the kids have gone to bed with home work out tapes. She keeps the junk food out of the house, which, quite frankly amazes me-because it's so hard to make time for healthy meals when you work full time and have three children. She also has the little ones enrolled in various classes with parent participation at the YMCA on Saturday mornings, which allows her time to be active with the kids while bonding. Hope these tips are helpful!

This would be a great Mommy Monday Segment. What I suggest is when on walks give your kiddo's a paper bag search for pretty rocks or a pretty leaf, you could even take bug catchers and search for bugs to take home and look at with a magnifying galss. You can also make it a treasure hunt, make a list of things like feathers, a red rock, yellow flower (dandelion), etc. I would do this when we went to the park, it gave them an incentive to go and not get bored too quickly. Also, play some oustide games such as tag, stuck in the mud, red rover, green light-red light, I realize your kiddo's are small but they will get a kick out of watching your sprint come to a screeching halt when they scream red light. We put on music and dance all around the house and when it's nice we go outside and dance with music and bubbles. I also like taking them to the pool, leting them hang on to you while you walk around is great exercise and will encourage them to learn to kick their little feet.
