I Sold My Truck
I can't believe it, but I'm going green.
I loved my truck. It was a GMC Yukon. It took me fishing in Minnesota five times, once towing a bass boat to Hay Lake. It has been to Eureka Lake countless times. It's been to Table Rock once. I put well over 100,000 miles on that truck. I sold it this week to Alan Shope, our Sports Director. You see, his dad George sold it to me almost 5 years ago. George passed away last month, and Alan wanted it back. It seemed the right thing to do. Now I drive a 4 door, 4 cylinder, gas sipping tin box with wheels. I'm green. It's OK, I was never a guy who was caught up with the car he drives. I don't need the nicest ride on the block. The car doesn't make the man! But it is a culture shock going from an SUV to a SLC (small little car). I did the math, and I'll be saving HUNDREDS of dollars a month. That's good. I'm also using half the fuel. That's good too. It's not so bad. Will I ever get back into a truck? I'm sure I will in the future. But for now, I like the idea of not having a car payment. It's also a lot cheaper to insure an SLC... fewer parts I suppose. There is ONE problem that I know I'm going to have when the weather gets warm. My fishing poles are longer then the car, and my tackle box is bigger then the trunk. Can I borrow your truck?
