I'm not surprised that Sedgwick County leaders are now saying they'll likely institute parking fees of up to $10.00 to go to events at Wichita's new downtown arena. You know what? I'm not all that bothered about it. In fact, I think they should double that charge and strongly urge people to use public transportation. I recently visited Seattle, where my group used public transportation every day we were there. Wichita is so behind the times when it comes to public transportation. We must try to do something to change that. |

Wichita is not behind, just has not seen a need for mass transit system till lately. You have to have a demand for mass transit before you can build it. With more using the city bus system, I believe now is the time to build a better system.
Posted by: Nicole Location: Buffalo Hi Jared! I agree. I recently attended my first event at HSBC arena here in downtown Buffalo and the closer you get to the arena, paying for parking goes up to $20. I think people in Wichita (and I was one of them for the first 23 years of my life!!) need to stop complaining about little things that don't matter! If people in an economy and city hit harder than most others in the county can pay up to $20...folks in Wichita can afford to pay $10. Plus...if you're going to a concert with 2 buddies and share a vehicle, it's less than $4 a person! |
