Happy Two Years At KAKE!

Today marks my two-year anniversary of working at KAKE-TV and needless to say, my time here has been anything but boring!

It’s hard to believe that two years ago today, I was nervous to be walking into the WeatherPlex at KAKE for the first time as an employee.  Jay walked me through all of the different computers and how they worked.  He showed me the workflow of a typical day… I watched the shows… filled out paperwork… and nervously looked forward to my first weekend on air.  Two years has flown by!

Wichita has been a great home to me for the past two years.  Professionally I have grown by earning my NWA seal of approval.  Personally I have grown by getting engaged and moving into a new house.  I have worked hours of non-stop severe weather coverage, snow storms, summer heat, ice storms…. etc.  All weather events that have helped me become the on air meteorologist that I am today.

Thankfully, the people of KAKEland have been patient with me.  Helping me with all the small western Kansas town names that are difficult to pronounce during severe weather coverage, being kind to me out in public, sending me wonderful emails, and also inviting me to speak at local clubs and schools.  I am very lucky to have been able to call Wichita home for the past two years.

Here’s to another great year!  I’m excited to see what it has in store!
