I think every girl dreams of getting proposed to… and getting married… and having the dream wedding… and the dream life. I can’t believe that it is finally happening to me!
We had a lot in common. We both went to Mizzou! We both had similar degrees. He’s an engineer and I took several engineering classes to get my meteorology degree. We knew a lot of the same people and even shared some of the same teachers in school, but never knew each other. We clicked right away.
Fast-forward a year and a half; I received a job offer at KAKE in Wichita, KS. Unsure about how long distance would affect our relationship, Stephen started applying to every job near Wichita. We were SO lucky that he received a job offer a few months after my move. Stephen moved up here, started his new job, and ended up really liking it!
Last week, we were visiting my family in Littleton, Colorado. We decided to head up to Breckenridge for a few days for a mini vacation. Last year we had tackled climbing a 14,000-foot mountain. I swore I would never do it again… but some how I was talked back into it. We decided to try to climb a different “fourteener”, Mt. Democrat, after a grueling few hours; we finally made it to the top. On top of the mountain, Stephen dropped to one knee and asked me to marry him! I was SHOCKED! Apparently, he had asked my family for permission a few months ago and those little sneaks kept their mouth shut! I had no idea, and couldn’t be more excited!
I am a VERY lucky girl to have so many wonderful people in my life. I have some great role models; my parents have been married for over 30 years and my grandparents for 50. I’m excited for this new chapter of my life! Now on to wedding planning from a distance (We want to get married in Colorado sometime next year)… I would LOVE suggestions and advice… should be an exciting time!
