Bring The Big 12 To Wichita

Conference realignment has turned everything upside down in college athletics. And Wichita has a chance to cash in.

Conference realignment has turned everything upside down in college athletics.  And Wichita has a chance to cash in.

It seems certain Missouri will leave the Big 12 Conference.   If the Tigers leave, Kansas City could suffer.  There are many who believe if Missouri leaves, the Sprint Center, in Kansas City, MISSOURI, should not host the Big 12 basketball tournament again.  This event brings thousands of visitors to KC every year, spending millions of dollars.

The Big 12 always selects a neutral site for its tournament, so why not INTRUST Bank Arena?  It's still close for the KU and KSU fan bases,  and closer than KC for the fans of schools in Oklahoma & Texas.

With its 15,000 seat capacity,  INTRUST Bank Arena is comparable  to other arenas in the Big 12 area;

Wells Fargo Arena, Des Moines;  17,000

Chesapeake Energy Arena (formerly Ford Center), Oklahoma City; 18,200

BOK Center, Tulsa;  19,199

Plus, IBA has the amenities (suites, loge boxes), that every big event demands today.

The winners in conference alignment are the groups that make bold moves.  It's time for Wichita leaders to step up and show the Big 12 Wichita is the perfect site to host this terrific event.
