Taking yet another step down the road to our final digital broadcast home, KAKE-TV analog channel 10 removed from service half of its transmitter, on January 15, 2009. This cut our over-the-air analog signal power in half.

The transmitter was taken off-line so it can be modified for digital broadcasting.

We will operate at half-power until we permanently terminate our analog broadcast, which is currently scheduled for 11:59pm on February 17, 2009.

At 12:00am on February 18, 2009 the newly modified half will return to the air, on channel 10, with our half-power digital signal. Then the half currently on-air, with the analog signal, will be adapted to digital, and returned to air, bringing KAKE-DT to full-power as soon as possible.

Yes, that is what I am referring to. At least people know in advance they can depend on you to help them out. Thanks!

Elaine: If you are referring to the pending legislation to move the current 2/17 last day of full-power analog date... you might be right. I'm waiting to see exactly what becomes law, before I post a new blog on what it will actually do in the "real world".
