A CNN reporter asked me the other day.. "how long have you worked in Wichita?" I said oh... about 15 years... feeling a little bit embarrassed that I wasn't in a bigger market. But when I started thinking about it... Wichita is a great city for big news. Over the last 15 years I have covered some huge national news stories. There was the Oklahoma City Bombing, the explosion of the grain elevator southwest of Wichita, the Greensburg and Haysville tornadoes, massive flooding in 1998, both shootings of Doctor Tiller, and then just today a Sedgwick County Commissioner is in the Holocaust Museum in D.C. when a gunman opens fire. It seems there is always a Wichita connection to some big news story! So, there's no need to go anywhere. Wichita is home.
