When the wind whips out of the north at 20 plus miles per hour and the temperature dips below zero, we reporters get to stand outside and tell you about it. Not that I'm a wimp or anything, but I CAN'T STAND the cold!
So how do we stay warm and still look presentable? Well, it's difficult. Without looking like the kid from Christmas Story. You know the one, he has that snow suit on and he's so bundled up he can't put his arms down! So, it's long underwear and layers, lots of layers.
The problem I have is that as all mother's know... you lose most of your body heat out of your head. So, I always wear a hat. I don't care how silly I look, I always wear a hat. But I'm finding that the hats I am choosing to wear aren't that cute... or so I've been told by several photographers here at the station who are brutally honest. I have tried on many, many hats at several different stores... those models look so cute in them... I DON"T. It's something about the shape of my head... So, like I always say... IT'S NOT A FASHION SHOW, it's about staying warm. On a side note, when we try to act like we're not cold out there.. don't buy it... we are! :)
