Faithful to "Your" Team

So, what does it mean to be a true fan? I am tired of being called a "bandwagon" cheerleader.

OK, here's my problem. I attended college at Fort Hays State University. I am a Tiger. However, I am a faithful K-State fan. Why? Well, for several reasons... first my brother and both my sisters graduated from Kansas State University. Secondly, I feel a connection with K-State because it's an ag school and I grew up on a farm.

So why, why I ask, do so many people say to me "she's just jumping on the bandwagon", "she's not a real K-State fan"? So, I didn't go to KSU, so what? I can still be a K-State fan, can't I? People say, "why do you have a KSU license plate instead of a Fort Hays State license plate?" ... well because I want to have one.

I still keep an eye on the Tigers, but I have to tell you, there are no televised games, no radio games and it's hard to keep up with the Tigers. I have met a ton of people who are KU fans, but did not go to school there. You don't hear me scrutinizing them.  Sorry if I sound a little upset, but you know what? I've had it. I can be a Wildcat fan if I want to... at least I'm not cheering for OU or Missouri... right?
