Wichita's Spirit Aerosystems reported third quarter financial results which are three percent higher than the same period last year.
Spirit reports revenues for the third quarter increased $1.054 billion, up three percent. Operating income is up eleven percent for the quarter. However, for the first nine months of the year revenues are down four percent and operating income down 42 percent.
Spirit Chief Executive Jeff Turner said the company's results reflect improving performance and profitability. Turner said Spirit has seen some stablization in the global economic outlook, however he remains cautious regarding the outlook of the commercial aerospace market.
