The Agricultural Statistics Service says fall harvest in Kansas progressed substantially last week as mild temperatures and limited moisture let farmers return to their fields.

The agency reported Monday that 80 percent of the corn crop is
now in the bin, along with 82 percent of the soybeans. About 59
percent of the sorghum crop also has been cut.

Farmers also have nearly wrapped up winter wheat planting, with
93 percent now in the ground. Usually by this late in the year
about 99 percent has been planted.
