A man was killed Thursday morning in an accident at a grain elevator in the town of Amy in Lane County.
Emergency crews responded to the accident around 9 a.m. Thursday. Once there, they found a co-op employee completely buried underneath milo inside the grain elevator. It took more than an hour to extricate the man.
Members of Lane County EMS tried to resuscitate him while he was en route to the hospital, but those attempts were unsuccessful.
A spokesperson for the Garden City Co-Op in Amy later identified the man as Dwayne Seifried.
It's unclear how he became buried in milo, but an emergency responder said prior to the accident Seifried was harnessed and had safety lines attached.
The investigation into the accident is continuing. No one else was injured.
