The Ford County Sheriff's department is asking every one to call them to report missing animals. The department handles more than 800 calls dealing with missing livestock each year and in many cases can't return the animals to its owners.

"It seems like lately we've been getting a a lot of calls ans we're hoping we could get a message out to the public that people really need to call us so we can get animals back to their owners," said Ford County Sheriff Dean Bush.

If the owner doesn't claim a lost animal within 21 days, the county will sell the animal and put the money in a special fund in the treasurer's office. The money then goes to the state animal health commission.
