Better Business Bureau : Be Wary Of Radio Ad

Friday, November 20, 2009
The Better Business Bureau has been contacted by numerous consumers about an offer aired by Consumer Advocate on a local radio station to receive $1000.00 in groceries.
The consumer calls a 1-800 number and is asked to give a credit card for a $4.90 charge. The offer sounds great especially going into the Holidays. The ad does not clearly mention any additional charges. They allege that by answering a short survey, you will receive the coupons. Some consumers have not received coupons after providing the company with a credit/debit card and taking a survey on the phone.
Consumers need to be wary anytime they are asked to provide personal financial information over the phone, over the Internet, or in the mail without checking with the Better Business Bureau for information about the company.
