The Kansas Secretary of State's office says some voters are experiencing Caucus confusion. The Secretary of State's office sent out this notice this morning;

The Secretary of State’s office has received a number of calls today regarding the status of a Kansas presidential primary, including a few individuals who mistakenly went to their normal polling place attempting to participate.

Our office would like to remind voters that due to a decision made by the 2007 legislature, there will NOT be a state primary today. The Kansas Democratic Party will caucus tonight at 7:00 p.m. in locations across the state. For a complete listing of caucus locations, voters should contact the state party headquarters at (785) 234-0425 or www.ksdp.org.

The Kansas Republican Party will hold their caucus on Saturday, February 9, 2008. For more information, voters are urged to contact the state party headquarters at (785) 234-3456 or www.ksgop.org.

As these elections are caucuses rather than a primary, Kansas election officials (at both the local and state level) will play no role in the administration of either vote.

By comparison with how the Democrats handled the caucus in Sedgwick and Johnson Counties, anything Kansas Republicans do on Saturday will appear smooth as silk.

Cant "caucus" when u gotta work, at least by "voting" you can get absentee ballots....this is rather stupid!

I thought there was not enough organization for this cacus there was really no consideratin for the handicap that could not stand for both countings and didn't offer I would just prefer when there was a vote.At least if you can't make it to the polls you get an absentee ballot.

Who in the world was responsible for choosing caucus sites. It is ridiculous that a democrat in Northwest Sedgwick has to drive clear across the county (to Derby)on bad roads (due to inclement weather) to express his choice for a candidate. I will drive right past two other caucus locations to get to my caucus site. Surely a site more centrally located site could have been found. Makes you wonder whether or not someone might have ulterior motives. This should be the last time Kansas does not have a presidential primary. We should all contact our state legislators and demand a primary election next time. The Ks Senate district boundaries should also be looked at, the present alignment makes no sense at all.

This is abit premature. But the only way we can have a true democracyis if every one votes. It seems the ones who don't do the most complaining about who was elected.
